Fears of Writing

Hello, readers! I've decided that, after poking around in the NaNoWriMo forums, I'm going to spend today talking about the Fears of Writing. I have a few, to be honest, and I'm going to talk about them here.

My first and foremost Fear of Writing is that, for some inexplicable reason, I will somehow lose all of my work. Like, my computer dying and my backup files failing and my backup backup USB disappearing(which actually happened, I'm not sure where that is...). I've worked so hard on so many stories, and it would kill me to lose them all.

Second Fear of Writing: that I'll never, ever be able to find an agent/publisher who thinks my novels are worth putting out into the world. As I said, I've worked so hard on so many of my stories, it would also kill me if not even one of them was publish-worthy.

My third Fear of Writing would be finding an editor that I got along with and who would do my story justice. I'm honestly scared that, once I get an editor, he/she will try to change my story entirely just to make it into a money-pulling machine (which would mean more money for me, too, but I'd rather keep it MY story than make it into something it's not and was never meant to be).

Number four is probably letting my family read what I write. My parents have dabbled in writing before, but they've never done anything large-scale. Not to mention that I write YA Fiction, a genre that they try to stay far, far away from in the bookstore.

My last fear is that I'll let someone I love and trust will betray me by either leaking one of my stories, stealing one of my ideas, or in some other way try to sabotage me. At this point, I only have one person who regularly reads what I write, and one other person who I occasionally let read some, too.

So, my question for anyone reading this is: what do you fear about writing? How do you overcome it? Do you think it will hinder you in the publishing process, if you plan to be published? I'd love to hear your answers! Post them in a comment, and I'll be sure to respond!
